Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Names or locations entered in a search tool are sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns its results. Gray County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so a response can be prepared. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server operation can collect technical facts about a visit, including:
- Device IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Referring website, when available
- Date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics vendors may combine visits into broad performance reports. Browser controls can block cookies, though parts of the site may then function differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate, secure, and improve site performance
- Pass a requested search to the appropriate partner
- Measure which resources visitors use
- Diagnose errors and other technical problems
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Gray County Criminal History does not build, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies official sources, including the Gray County Sheriff, court clerks, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not compiled into a consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information placed in those tools is governed by each provider’s privacy policy, retention terms, and sharing rules. We do not control those practices. Review the provider’s policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Gray County government, Texas agencies, court portals, other public resources, or outside search services. Their policies apply after a visitor leaves this site. Review those terms before supplying personal details.
Advertising providers may also use their own systems to recognize activity across different websites.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Search providers that process a query
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving content
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information within our control. No internet service can promise absolute security, so a breach or unauthorized access can never be ruled out completely.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If information from a person under 18 is identified, a request may be made for its removal.
Your Data Rights
Rights can depend on where a visitor lives. Texas public records are governed by the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, while criminal-history dissemination is limited by Government Code Chapter 411. Those laws govern public bodies and official criminal-history information; they do not turn this private resource into a government record custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal data held by this site
- Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
- Request deletion where the law permits
- Object to certain processing where a right applies
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as services and practices develop. A revised version will be posted here with a new effective date.
